“You ain’t gonna learn what you don’t wanna know” (Bob Weir)
DISCOVERY IS SEEING WHAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS SEEN AND THEN THINKING WHAT NO ONE ELSE HAS THOUGHT! (Albert Szent-Gyogyi)
From my experience. it is a very funny world. If your brother invents A specialized sports t-shirt like Under Armour or reinvents the sneaker business like Nike, you excitedly get involved because you can see and feel the goods and you can brag about the “Entrepreneurship” and “Chutzpah” of the fellow who came up with this “new idea that changes everything”. Its easy to understand the value of a T Shirt or a new kind of sneakers, you can pick it up and hold it. That changes, however, when the thing that gets changed is something that NO ONE UNDERSTANDS.
Remember history, they threw Galileo in JAIL because he had the temerity to say “I think that Copernicus guy was right!”
The Dyson vacuum story is a perfect and far more recent allegory.
THAT GUY created a bagless vacuum cleaner that DRAMATICALLY CHANGED THE GAME for the vacuum business.
He SHOWED his concept to THE COMPETITION WHO CONTROLLED THE BUSINESS AT THE TIME AND …. THEY IGNORED HIM!.
THEN THEY ALL COPIED HIS CONCEPT!
As Bob Weir sings “YOU AIN’T GONNA LEARN WHAT YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW”! A CLOSED MIND RELEGATES YOU TO THE SAME OLD BAD OUTCOMES -
I’m pretty sure that doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is the common definition of “insanity”.
If DOING the same thing is INSANE, what is PAYING for Wall Street to DO IT TO YOU: TO WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!!
SELF DESTRUCTION? STUPIDITY?
Wasting you money is bad enough, but wasting your time and opportunities is even worse!
THERE IS A TIME WHEN YOU NEED TO LOOK OUTSIDE THAT STATUS QUO!
YOU NEED TO SEEK OUT A NEW AND BETTER SOLUTION AND STOP FOLLOWING THE CROWD.
